Sapang Palay National High School (SPNHS) pushes through a clean spike as they swiftly put San Martin National High School (SMNHS) in a corner. The former dominated Sepak Takraw Boys' second match of the Public Secondary School Athletic Association (PSSAA) Meet, 2-0, on Friday morning, December 8, at the Sepak Takraw Court of SPNHS.
SPNHS achieved consecutive wins for both regu as they rain spikes insinuated by a great start from John Carlo Gungob, 03, on the first regu.
The blue-white donned players started the match with sole kicks, rendering SMNHS to halt and maintain composure which was later broken by 03, 11, and 23's synergy to fully pacify the game into their side, 21-8.
It was not enough that a large gap was barricaded by SPNHS, Gungob commences the second half of the first set with a strong roll spike, turning not just his body but aswell as the whole court to their side, firing up until he seals the game with another roll spike, 21-9. The first regu of SPNHS now reigns the court.
With a nice start, confidence emits from the blue-clad team as their second regu initiates the next set. Though errors are momentarily given and received by both teams, SPNHS rings close calls lead by 25 and 18 to avoid overriding with mistakes, and flawlessly shifts the game with 10 gap, 21-11. The court is now stirring for a one-sided win.
Off for a good start, 22 of SPNHS opens the set with a powerful service, off-putting SMNHS, but service error later on pushes back the team, giving the latter a major take-off. SPNHS easily swats this mistakes and fires sole kicks to penetrate the other side of the court earning them the win in the second set with a score of 21-12.
Gungob states the need to change their regu because "nakita na ng kalaban," in which the other team may match the performance they have presented today.
SPNHS Sepak Takraw Boys will now advance to the next stage of the game that will lead off tomorrow.
