Schools Division benchmarks in SPNHS


To further hone the journalistic skills and linguistic competence of students, the Schools Division of Office of Bulacan conducted a benchmarking activity at Sapang Palay National High School (SPNHS), on December 13, Wednesday.


Sir Jay Arr V. Sangoyo, PhD, DEPS English of SDO Bulacan, headed the benchmarking activity with approximately 40 delegates targeting Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) and Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) of SPNHS.


"I am aiming for more schools in our SDO to have more SPFL and SPJ implementers for the benefit of our Bulakenyo learners...I wanted them to take note how you started and how you make your program implementation better",Sangoyo stated.


Mary Grace Marollano, SPFL Mandarin Coordinator together with the Mandarin teachers led delegates and showcased the Confucius Library.



SPFL Nihonggo Coordintor, Michelle M. Castro introduced the Japanese culture through an exhibit.



Meanwhile, the Journalism team headed by Sarah J. Sanoy, SPJ Coordinator and The Pillar School Paper Adviser, presented the best practices and toured the delegates to the SPJ Press Room where newspaper archives were displayed and different broadcasting presentations were delivered by selected Grade 10 SPJ learners, and, Ang Suhay and The Pillar TV Broadcasting teams.


Both SPFL and SPJ teams were supervised by Dr. Marife H. Molining, Head Teacher V of SPNHS English Department.



According to one of the attendees, Ma’am Monaliza Casquero, Principal I of Sta. Cruz High School, the benchmarking of activities will significantly assist in preparing their school's program.


"Benchmarking activities helped us a lot para makita namin where can we start our program because we will be starting our program by the next school year,” said Ma'am Casquero.

Sir Victor Santos, Teacher III of Prenza National High School, expressed hope in incorporating the showcased practices from SPNHS.


"It is more than what we were expecting, akala namin titingin lang kami ng documents and kaunting explanations, hindi namin in-expect na magkakaroon pala ng wonderful presentations," he added.


Moreover, the delegates visited the Reading Magic Center supervised by Ma'am Marites P. Daclis, School Reading Coordinator.
