Players buckle up for contest proper as PSSAA officially kicks off

On Friday, December 8, the opening ceremony of the Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (PSSAA) commenced, with Sapang Palay National High School acting as the host of the event, housing teams from different schools before the contest proper.

The program, with the theme of "Malakas na pangangatawan, matalas na isipan, matatag na mag-aaral, PSSAA 2023," began with the drum and lyre team leading the parade from the Roquero gym, going into the senior high school oval, which is the designated venue for the ceremony.

Ma'am Cristina Santiago, PSSAA Vice President, in an interview stated that she hopes the players could maintain the spirit of sportsmanship.

She also added that the essence of sports is all about accepting whatever the results may be, and continuing their journey no matter the outcome.

Furthermore, after the conclusion of the opening ceremony, all the players went straight to the venues of their games.

The event will be taking place for two consecutive days, with the awarding scheduled for December 9.

In line with this, the winners who will take victor in PSSAA, will be the representatives for the upcoming City Meet, to be held in January.
