#PillarScares: Doppelganger

Luisi begins her story thinking her day would only go as normal at Sapang Palay National High School. That day, she arrived early despite the hustle and bustle of commuting. Luisi recalls around 6:30 AM as she stepped into their room. Everything felt like a daily habit for someone like her, who usually greets classmates who just came from sickness.

Not until she was standing right at their main door and saw the figure of her classmate named Eli. Eli was absent for almost two weeks due to her appendicitis operation. It took her a moment to process because she knew that her classmate was supposed to be resting and that there were a few more days until she could go back.

Still, she shrugged it off and proceeded to walk to her seat, while Eli's sitting arrangement was only at the back of their row. For that moment, it made it easier for Luisi to ask how Eli was.

"Oh, nandito ka na pala elijah, kamusta kana?"

"You're here already, Eli. How are you?"

Luisi recounts that it was already a weird thing, as Eli did not even make a sound to respond but continued to fix her things, facing backwards. It did continue for a few minutes, as if the only source of noise in the four corners of the area was from scratches on things from the bag.

But later on, the noise ended in a snap. Her classmate stood up, completely ignoring her as she walked to their backdoor. As per Luisi, it was an odd scenario, but she tries to ignore it in the thought that Eli is still not in the mood. Things went smoothly;

however, when the clock ticked to 7:00 AM, her close friend, Kai, came.

"Aga ah... Lam mo ba pumasok na si Eli?"

"Early bird, huh? Were you aware that Eli just came back?

It was a usual thing for Kai to ask where she was, and then Luisi told her that Eli's black bag was there. Little did she know that Kai knew what Eli's bag looked like.

And it wasn't that black bag.

They argued that it was another classmate's bag. Kai was laughing at the thought that Luisi was pranking her, but they were interrupted by their other classmate, who was sitting near Eli's chair, and told that she was still absent and expected to be back for the next few days.

In the crumble of steady panic breaths coming along with things getting creepier, Luisi kept asking herself who she talked to. Aside from the fact that some of her classmates pointed out that maybe it was 'Shina' who had the same hairstyle as Eli's that day, and to lighten the momentum, she asked for confirmation.

"Kinausap ba kita kanina?"

"Did I talk to you earlier? she asked, tilting her head as a sign of no.

All of them passed the day as if what happened that morning was a prank. For Luisi, she could not forget how everything was vivid, from the hairstyle to the skin complexion to her face that matched Eli's. And to this day, Luise has no clear explanation of who she talked to. However, she has no intention of finding out.
